- Connected a scan tool and found code P0106 – Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance. Performed a road test while monitoring live scan tool data and observed the manifold absolute pressure sensor parameter was erratic. Performed an inspection of the air intake system, but found no obvious concerns. Inspected the manifold absolute pressure sensor wiring harness and connector, but detected no faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector and found both were present. Backprobed the manifold absolute pressure sensor and performed a throttle sweep while monitoring the sensor signal on a lab scope. The manifold absolute pressure sensor signal observed on the lab scope was erratic. These test results verified the manifold absolute pressure sensor was faulty. Correction Replaced the manifold absolute pressure sensor, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and no fault codes returned.
