- Confirmed the customer's complaint and found the engine light was on an engine is running rough . Connected a scan tool and found code P0106 – Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance. At idle, monitored live scan tool data and observed the manifold absolute pressure sensor parameter was erratic. Visually inspected the air intake system and found no obvious concerns. Performed an inspection of the manifold absolute pressure sensor wiring harness and connector, but detected no obvious faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector and found both were present. Backprobed the manifold absolute pressure sensor and monitored the sensor signal on a lab scope. The manifold absolute pressure sensor signal observed on the lab scope was erratic. Correction Replaced the manifold absolute pressure sensor, cleaned the throttle, cleared codes, performed a road test and verified the vehicle operated properly. The check engine light did not illuminate and the customer's concern did not return.
